Motivation is a word we hear all the time and yet so many people struggle to “get motivated,” especially when it comes to working out.  What do you think of when you hear motivation?  Are you looking for a magic word or quote?  Are you waiting for someone to push you in the right direction?  Maybe it’s a favorite song or a just a sunny that makes you want to get up go!

I am going to give you a few tips on how to up that motivation when it comes to your own fitness and health.  I believe the number one most important piece is to set goals.  Without goals there is nothing to work for, no motivation.  I want you to take a few minutes and think about one thing you want an exercise program to do for you.  Think of the big picture, if you could have anything you wanted what would it be?  This is your mountain top; this is where you are headed.  Now it is time to decide what you need to do to get there.  A goal without a plan is just an idea.  Set daily, weekly, and monthly targets that will keep you on track.  If you are not sure where to start sit down with one of our certified trainers at Prescription Fitness and together we can start laying out the plan for your success.

The next step is building your support team.  Think of your team as tools to help you on your journey.  It may be someone that helps keep you on track when you’re having an off day or a food journal to hold yourself accountable for what you eat everyday.  It could be a playlist of your favorite songs that get you moving or scheduling a set time for your workouts.  Think about what you need and start filling up that tool box!

Create a reward system that that gives you positive reinforcement.  This does not mean a junk food binge or getting to skip a workout just because you have been “good” lately.  Be creative but do not let your rewards knock you off track. The hardest part of starting something new is taking the first step.  Remember a goal without a plan is just an idea.  Do not wait for someone else to start the fire, be the spark!  Schedule an appointment today with Prescription Fitness and let’s create a plan for you to climb that mountain.  See You at the Top!
