From his early childhood, he has been competitive in several forms of martial arts, wrestling, track and field, football, and weightlifting. He has earned a black belt in Hápkido, been a starter on the wrestling, track, and football teams, and won several championships in wrestling and weightlifting.

Sheldon graduated from Westlake High School in 2011 after completing multiple accomplishments and goals he had set for himself. In wrestling, he was starter all four years (first two at North Olmsted High School), has been named “Most Improved” and “Most Valuable Player,” won a conference title, and qualified for the State Championships his senior year. On top of wrestling, Sheldon found a new passion in weightlifting which originally was to supplement his main sport of wrestling. After being coached for a few months by the well-known, Terry Grow in USA Weightlifting, Sheldon broke multiple state records and unofficially broke a national school-age record all by his first weightlifting meet. After placing top three in School-Age Nationals and Junior Nationals a few times and wining a few state championships, Sheldon wanted to dedicate his life to Weightlifting as his sport of choice in college.
