Since October 2023, Amy has been on a powerful and personal mission: to build strength, confidence, and independence through fitness. Thanks to her unwavering dedication and consistency, Amy was recently named the Client MVP by her trainer Ella Powell at Prescription Fitness. “Amy shows up and

works hard, even the Monday after her daughter’s wedding weekend! She’s an example of what happens when you commit to the process.” Ella stated.

Most of Amy’s training happens at the Westlake Recreation Center, with occasional sessions at North Olmsted Recreation Center. Her journey is nothing short of remarkable—and incredibly relatable.

Meet Amy – Client MVP and Fitness Inspiration

From Empty Nest to Empowered Woman

When Amy’s youngest son left for college, she found herself in a new chapter of life. Instead of slowing down, she decided to take action.

“I wanted to be able to move furniture, take stuff down from the attic, and not wait for help,” Amy shared. Her goal was clear: get stronger and stay independent.

What began as a simple free assessment email from the rec center turned into a life-changing decision. Amy had never done personal training before, but that first session revealed her potential—and she ran with it.

Learning, Progressing, Thriving

Starting with little to no strength training background, Amy admits she didn’t know how to use the machines at first. But with Ella’s expert guidance, she learned the correct techniques and began to overcome her limitations.

“I knew I was weak… but I also knew there was only one way to go—up!”

Now, Amy’s workouts are marked by improved balance, strength, and mobility. She recounted a moment on a recent trip where she carried a heavy suitcase up two flights of stairs in one go, something she never ima

gined being able to do before. Her garage even became a proving ground when she lifted a set of lockers off her car by herself. Call her Superwoman—we do!

Small Wins That Add Up

Amy is the definition of “progress over perfection.” She candidly shared how core workouts, especially ab-focused floor work, were her biggest struggle.

“I could barely do one straight leg lift when I started. Now I can do 15.”

With Ella’s support and her own determination, Amy has made steady, measurable improvements. She doesn’t shy away from hard work, and she’s honest about her likes (leg presses!) and dislikes (abs, obviously).

Making Time, Making Fitness a Priority

Amy balances a full-time job, serves on Westlake City Council, and still manages to prioritize her health. How? No excuses.

“I just put it in my schedule and don’t plan anything else during that time,” she explained. “I’ve even gone straight from workouts to council meetings—just zip up the jacket!”

The structure and accountability of training sessions have helped her stay consistent, even with a hectic lifestyle. Ella’s coaching, encouragement, and expertise have made the gym a space of growth—not intimidation.

Good Vibes and Stronger Muscles

For Amy, atmosphere matters too. She loves when the rec center plays ‘80s music—her preferred pump-up playlist—while she powers through her sets. The community atmosphere at the Westlake Recreation Center has been a big part of her positive experience.

“The equipment is in great shape, it’s always clean, and the crowd is just right—not too packed, but never empty.”

Encouraging Others to Take the First Step

Amy’s advice to anyone considering personal training?

“You can’t go wrong with it. You’ll learn how to do things right, push yourself more than you would alone, and gain confidence.”

She’s a big believer in investing in health now to avoid bigger issues later. As she wisely put it: “You either pay for wellness or pay for sickness.”

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Amy?

Amy isn’t done yet. With her sights set on improving her nutrition, adding more cardio, and staying strong, she plans to keep her fitness journey going strong. Once a week with her trainer and another solo session are her current rhythm—but she’s always pushing to do more.

Her story is a testament to what’s possible when you combine support, structure, and self-belief.

Congratulations again, Amy! Your journey is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to take control of your health and discover what you’re capable of.
