Wherever you’re traveling to especially a new city that you haven’t been to, walk as much as possible. Check out great places that it has the offer like a museum where you could do plenty of walking or go around town to check out new buildings or old monuments. Try finding a nearby park or some fun running routes in the area.
If you’re going into buildings or hotels use the stairs as much as possible. Instead of taking a cab, walk. Also, take advantage of the hotel gym or pool. Outdoor biking and hiking is also a great way to have fun and get exercise at the same time.
To get some more resistance training in, pack easy to carry exercise equipment in your travel bag. Resistance bands and yoga mats can fit easily that bag. You can continue with your same workout routine or get creative with what you have. Also, before you leave try looking up nearby personal trainers where you live, a lot of them do virtual training. Another way is to look up exercise videos that you can follow.
If there’s not much equipment in your hotel gym and it’s not what you’re looking for and you have a membership to a franchised gym look up nearby ones in the area. A good way to get your workout in and not spoil the fun for the people you’re with that want to get their day going, wake up early and get your workout in ahead of time.
Another important thing to look out for while traveling that people oversee is their food and nutrition. Enjoy trying new food places to eat but be smart. You could have that extra treat that might be famous for the area that you’ve been wanting to try and that’s fine, just have portion control. Another good way is to look up menus ahead of time if possible.
Does the place you’re staying have a buffet? That’s great if it does but don’t be fooled, the nutritious foods are typically at the end of the buffet so skip the beginning part especially at breakfast time. You want to have a good breakfast to get your day started and to keep that metabolism going that you’ve been working so hard on before your trip. Like always, stay hydrated, carry water around with you at all times drinking it throughout the day.
